It's been twenty years since starting the modest "summit on the song" in Estes Park. During that time the festival has moved (to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons), grown, and created its own spirit and culture, while remaining true to the initial vision for spending a glorious Colorado summer weekend celebrating stories and songs from around the musical and geographic world. Celebrating the 20th Annual Folks Festival with Ani DiFranco, John Prine, The Swell Season, Richard Thompson, Greg Brown, Jenny Lewis, Marc Cohn, and many more. Also on the venue will be new, young artists to the Folks Festival community, including our latest addition: Joy Kills Sorrow. This Boston-based stringband has released a beautiful album of songs - led by a stunning young singer and virtuosic musicians who love melody and texture.

It's never too early in the year to start thinking about the 38th Annual RockyGrass - for many it is the "bluegrass new year." The limited allotment of holiday-priced tickets sold out in record time, but 3-day tickets are still available; single-day tickets will be available in the Spring. Have a look at the lineup: Doc Watson, Patty Loveless and the Horse Flies, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band and Alison Brown. SPBGMA 2010 Album of the Year winners Junior Sisk & Rambler's Choice; Lyons' own KC Groves Long Road Home; two of the great bluegrass guitar stylists Tony Rice & Bryan Sutton share an intimate set of duets; and one of our all-time favorite musicians, Tim O'Brien returns to RockyGrass with his band.
The preliminary 2010 lineup is here: Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer; Del McCoury Band; Hot Rize; Punch Brothers; Josh Ritter Band; Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros; Carolina Chocolate Drops; Imelda May; the Telluride House Band featuring Sam, Béla, Jerry, Edgar, Bryan & Stuart; and many, many more. 2010 festival tickets and camping are on sale now at shop.bluegrass.com. If you missed out on last year's festival check out the reports from some festival bloggers - NoDepression, DailyCamera, TellurideInsideOut, and Jambase.
