Frederick Aragon is a unique yet common man of southwestern descent, with Navajo, Hispanic, Chinese and Anglo culture coursing through his veins and influencing his art. His stories, told in music that embraces the soul, make us reflect on our decisions and how they affect the lives around us.
A Texas native and a natural-born artist, Aragon was raised in Arizona, attending Arizona State University and developing both traditional painting and commercial art skills. For more than a decade, he made his living as a third-generation railroader, a western tradition with its own culture. He never stopped pursuing his art, however, and his work as an illustrator led to his position as a designer with a leading U.S. educational software company.
Taos, New Mexico, became the home of his next great adventure. In 1998, while promoting his advertising agency at a chamber mixer, he picked up a Native American flute. He took to it like a red-tailed hawk to the breeze, and began a new journey. His first CD, Coyote Tales (Magpie Productions, 2000), is recommended listening for anyone embarking on a journey into the southwest and themselves.
