Nancy Laupheimer The Taos Chamber Music Group (TCMG) has been performing throughout New Mexico and Southern Colorado since its inception in 1993. Unlike most chamber music ensembles based in large cities, Taos Chamber Music Group is unique in making its home in a rural, mountainous area with a strong Hispanic and Pueblo Indian presence. The cultural diversiry of Northern New Mexico is represented in programs that combine works by Spanish, South American and Native Amencan composers with more well-known chamber music repertoire.
Taos Chamber Music Group's innovative concerts also include
commissioned works, compositions by women and jazz composers, and
collaborations with writers and dancers.
Distinguished guest artists from around the world often join TCMG's roster, which includes some of
New Mexico's finest musicians. This compilation of live recordings is a
sample of the wide variery of instrumentation, nationalities and styles
for which TCMG has become known.
What is so appealing for both chamber
music performers and their audiences is a certain kind of magic that
happens when a group of talented and often highly individualistic
musicians translates a shared vision into sound, when their coming
together creates a palpable personal and musical synergy. This is the
on going goal of the Taos Chamber Music Group.
